Who is Fly Surf?

Hello,
My name is Piet, the face behind Fly Surf.

Since my first experience on an efoil in 2018, I’ve been addicted to the feeling of flying over the water.

Which board did I start with?

In 2019, I purchased my first efoil. In 2020, I traded it in for a Lift Foils Sport 4’9.

At that time, there was no reseller for Lift Foils in the Netherlands. I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to learn and ride on Lift Foils boards.

Lift Foils are the inventors of the first commercial efoil and remain a frontrunner in the industry. In 2020, we founded Fly Surf and became a reseller for Lift Foils.

Efoil Championship 2023

At the second edition of the Dutch Efoil Championship in 2023, I secured 2nd place.
The following year, at the Dutch Efoil Championship 2024, I took 1st place against a competition field of 24 participants.

Since 2024, efoil races have become more common. Racing with an efoil helps riders get used to maneuvering at higher speeds, taking corners when needed, and braking in a controlled manner.

Fly Surf hosts an Efoil Championship that, based on a combination slalom course along with speed and timing elements, aims to create a fair playing field for all types, sizes, and brands to participate.

We are proud to partner with GearFreak Surf School.

GearFreak is a renowned name in the watersports industry, with a surf shop and school, and now also offers high-quality efoil lessons.

GEARfreak Surf School

GEARfreak Surf School has proven itself for many years in windsurfing, wing surfing, and wing foiling lessons. Their experience and dedication are unmatched, making them the ideal partner for FlySurf. Together, we share a passion for inspiring and teaching people in watersports. GEARfreak Surf School strives for the highest teaching standards. We believe in continuous improvement and invest every year in enhancing our teaching methods and raising the skill level of our instructors. Our goal is to offer every student an excellent learning experience — not only to master the basics of efoiling, but also to take their skills to the next level.

New location

Starting mid‑2023, our lessons will take place at the new GearFreak surf shop and surf school, located on the beautiful Valkenburgse Meer. This centrally located spot in the west of the Netherlands offers an ideal setting for watersports activities. With cities such as Amsterdam, Leiden, The Hague, and Rotterdam nearby, our new home is easily accessible for adventurous watersports enthusiasts from across the region.

That’s why we provide our efoil lessons using the best gear from Lift Foils, a leading brand in the industry. Lift Foils is known for its advanced technology and innovative designs, making them a pioneer in the world of efoils. Lessons

Our beginner lessons focus on teaching the fundamentals and safely operating an efoil. You’ll learn how to start, maintain balance, and comfortably glide above the water’s surface. Our experienced instructors guide you step-by-step, helping you build confidence and make rapid progress.

As your skills develop, we offer advanced lessons where you’ll learn to carve, jump, and even race with the efoil. We challenge you to push your limits and explore new tricks and maneuvers, all while experiencing the adrenaline rush of flying on an efoil.
